A beamset is a group of beams fired from one probe. A single beam uses one aperture and one angle. A linear scan moves the aperture along the array at a fixed angle. A sectorial scan sweeps the angle with a fixed aperture. A spread beamset widens the aperture to meet a coverage target.
The first element, aperture, angle range and focus (none, depth, path or plane) are set per beamset. Element delays follow from the focus: each element fires after tmax − ti, where ti is the travel time from that element to the focal point.
The Selected beam slider steps through the beams of the active beamset; the results pane shows the angle, exit point, near field and beam spread for that beam.
